Welcome to the Department of Economics at the W. P. Carey School of Business! We are devoted to excellence in teaching and research in multiple fields of Economics. Our faculty members publish their work in prestigious general-interest journals in Economics and in the top journals of their disciplines. They are editors of major academic journals, contribute to prestigious associations and editorial boards, and regularly present their research papers at major institutions and conferences around the world. One of our faculty,Edward C. Prescott, was awarded the 2004 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Many researchers from around the world visit the department to present their work at regular seminars and conferences. All this translates into high quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Explicitly recognizing that all economic behavior takes place within an environmental system, the mission of theCenter for Environmental Economics and Sustainability Policyis to develop principles for environmental and resource economics that can help to guide sustainability policy.
